    Intel CPU Price cuts are expected on October 22nd. See the Intel CPU Prices page for more information.

    Intel Crestline-GM chipset for Merom is expected to be released in Q3. Crestline-GM is part of the Santa Rosa platform and is expected to support an 800Mhz FSB speed, DDRII 800 SDRAM and PCI Express in addition to a reduction in power over the Calistoga chipsets. Crestline also features next generation integrated graphics and Robson NAND cache technology. The next generation graphics, GMA X3000 and GMA 3000, offer faster clock speeds than their predecessors alongside support for DX9 Pixel Shader 3 and Vertex Shader 3.0 support, providing full support for Vista Aero Glass. Robson combines NAND flash integrated into the motherboard with some caching algorithms to help speed up system boot time and application startup time. Crestline is expected to interface to ICH8-M, which features support for 10xUSB2 and 3xSATA 300 sockets, and the Kedron wireless chipset. Kedron supports 80211a/b/g and 11n WiMax. 802.11n offers a maximum throughput of 540Mbit/s, and will offer a better operating distance than 802.11a/b/g.

    Intel Celeron D 356 is expected to be released in Q3. This 65nm Celeron D processor features a clock speed of 3.33Ghz and a 512KB L2 cache.

    Intel Celeron D 360 is expected to be released in Q3. This 65nm Celeron D processor features a clock speed of ?Ghz and a 512KB L2 cache.

    Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 (Kentsfield) desktop CPU is expected to be released on November 13th. Kentsfield is a quad core CPU contained in a multi-chip package (i.e. 2 Dual Core CPUs in a single package). The first iteration of Kentsfield will be in the form of the Core 2 Extreme QX6700 CPU which will feature a core clock speed of 2.67Ghz, contain 2x4MB L2 cache and run on a 1066Mhz FSB.

    Intel Allendale desktop CPU is expected to be released in Q4. Allendale is expected to be the low-cache version of Conroe, being a Dual core CPU containing 2MB of L2 cache.

    Intel Clovertown server CPU is expected to be released in Q4. Clovertown is a quad core CPU and is expected to be based on Kentsfield, featuring 4MB of L2 cache.

    Intel Conroe E6900 (3.2GHz) is expected to be released in Q4.



    2007

    Intel CPU Price cuts are expected in January. See the Intel CPU Prices page for more information.

    Intel Core 2 Q6600 is expected to be released in Q1. The Q6600 features 2 x E6600 cores in the same package, comprising a quad core CPU running at a clock speed of 2.4Ghz, 2x4MB L2 cache and running on a 1066Mhz FSB. The Q6600 will be the first non-Extreme Edition member of the Kentsfield family.

    Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 is expected to be released in Q1. The E4300 is expected to feature a 1.8GHz clock speed with 2MB L2 cache and run on an 800Mhz FSB.

    Intel Pentium (Conroe-L) single core budget CPU is expected to be released in Q2. Conroe L will be based around the Conroe design, but be a single core CPU. The first members of the Conroe L family are expected to be:

    Pentium E1020 - 1.4 GHz, 800Mhz FSB, 1 MB of L2 cache
    Pentium E1040 - 1.6 GHz, 800Mhz FSB, 1 MB of L2 cache
    Pentium E1060 - 1.8 GHz, 800Mhz FSB, 1 MB of L2 cache

    Intel Stealey mobile CPU is expected to be released in Mid 2007. Stealey is expected to be a single core budget CPU featuring 512KB of L2 cache.

    Intel Xeon DP 2.6Ghz (Woodcrest)
    processor is expected to be released in Q2.

    Intel Bearlake-X chipset for the Core architecture is expected to be released in Q3. Bearlake-X is expected to be the successor to Intel's 975X chipset at the high end of the market and feature PCI Express 2.0 (running at a 5Ghz rather than 2.5Ghz clock), 2xPCIe x16 ports, support for a 1333Mhz PSB and PC2-6400 and PC3-10600 memory support.

    Intel Millville desktop CPU is expected to be released in Q1 2007. Millville is expected to be a single core version of Allendale, containing 1MB of L2 cache.

    Intel Xeon MP (Tigerton) CPU is expected to be released in 2007 as part of the Caneland platform. Tigerton is the replacement of the now abandoned Whitefield CPU and is expected to be a 4 core CPU possibly based on the Merom core and using Intel's CSI bus - akin to AMD's HyperTransport. Like Whitefield, Tigerton is being designed in Intel's design centre in India.

    Intel Tukwila (formally known as Tanglewood, possibly cancelled) IA64 CPU is expected to be introduced in 2007. Tukwilla is the multi-core (4 core) successor to Shavano (now probably successor to Montecito) built on a 65nm process. Tukwila is expected to contain 32Mb L3 cache.

    Intel Dimona IA-64 CPU is the Dual Processor only version of Tukwilla, expected to be released in 2007.

    Intel Gilo Mobile
    processor, successor to Merom, is expected to be released in 2006/7 built on a 65nm process. Gilo is expected to be a multi-core CPU.

    Intel 45nm process is expected to come online in 2007.

    Intel Penryn mobile CPU is expected to be released in H2 2007 on a 45nm process. Penryn is the successor to Merom / Gilo and is expected to be a dual core CPU based on a 45nm process and containing either 3MB or 6MB of L2 cache.


    2008

    Intel Xeon MP (Dunnington) (possibly cancelled) is expected to be released in 2008. The successor to Whitefield, Dunnington is expected to a multicore (>4 core) CPU.

    Intel Wolfdale
    desktop CPU is expected to be released in 2008 and is the desktop version of Penryn. Wolfdale is expected to be a Dual core processor featuring 3MB of L2 cache.

    Intel Ridgefield
    desktop CPU is expected to be released in 2008 and is the large cache version of Wolfdale, featuring 6MB of L2 cache.

    Intel Nehalem CPU, the successor to the Core architecture and based on a 45nm architecture is expected to be released in 2008.

    2009

    Intel Yorkfield desktop CPU is expected to be released around 2009. Yorkfield is expected to be based on a 45nm process and contain 8 CPU cores in a multi die package. Yorkfield is also expected to contain 12MB of shared L2 and may comprise of 4xWolfdale chips in a single package.

    Intel Hillsdale all-in-one CPU is expected to appear around 2009. Hillsdale was seen by Shamino in a recent dream and is said to be based on an advanced 2nm process. It will contain 256 cores in a 3-dimensional torus die configuration with 1024 MB of shared L2 and will run at speeds in excess of 8 Ghz.

    Intel Harpertown is the server version of Yorkfield, due to be released around 2009. Like Yorkfield, Harpertown is expected to be build on a 45nm process and contain 8 cores in a multi die package with 12MB of shared L2.


    Intel 32nm process is expected to come online in 2009.

    Intel Gesher CPU is expected to be released in 2010. Gesher is the successor to the Nehalem architecture.

    Intel 22nm process is expected to come online in 2011.

    THe difference between my 925x 2 years ago and my 965p now is not very big... but the CPUs... wah, cannot compare my old P4 3ghz 5xx series with my conroe loh... off the charts

    And even more so my pentium 2 servers at work XD
    They're throwing in good xeons now in a mad rush to upgrade, heheh.

    I think I will save money for maybe 2 years and get Intel Penryn laptop

    Lol... now everybody still talking about merom... wait till the new ones come out, I hope they live up to intel's currently bolstered reputation
