Frequent cheap deals or seldom expensive ones?

I've always been interested which business is better. The one where you have few operations but each of them brings a lot of money (like selling a car or a house) or is it better to have tens or hundreds transactions that bring 1$ or less every day (selling something small and cheap)?

I think it's better to have many small ones than one but big. This way you don't depend only on one thing.
