Post DirectX 11 patch for Crysis 2 is a farce: Tweet deleted, patch remains uncertain

Crytek's information policy on the DirectX 11 support of Crysis 2 is slowly but surely a farce. After Tiago Sousa, Crytek Principal R & D Graphics Programmer to work on DirectX via Twitter confirmed 11 posting has been deleted in the meantime. But Crytek Crymod of the forum made it clear that you have patch for DirectX 11 announced no.

Crytek makes the confusion about DirectX 11 in Crysis 2 is now fully complete. PC Games Hardware yesterday reported a Twitter message from Tiago Sousa, Crytek Principal R & D Graphics Programmer. He said via Twitter, the current state of many of the expected DirectX 11 patch for Crysis 2:
"Cooking some great bits for C2 DX11 tech fans, be patient guys. All I can say, is that we have 16 ms or more to have fun with pc hardware ..."
Sousa This indirectly confirms the work on the patch, the "16 ms" refer most probably to 16 milliseconds per frame. Meanwhile, Tweet is not to find more, he was obviously completely deleted. But there is an official collection charges by taking the Crymod forum Cry-Tom, Community Manager at Crytek. It makes clear that "a patch was never confirmed. As with the leaked system requirements for Crysis 2 would be only statements that are read to be relevant for the players. Several websites reported at the weekend that a DirectX 11 patch for Crysis 2 at 28.3. should appear, what was but a classic hoax.

The question we face now can, why Crytek deletes the DirectX 11-Tweet? Might there be no "free" patch for DX11 in Crysis 2? Verbundelt the Crytek DX11 support with DLC? Crytek would be well advised to clarify finally official, what their plans are with DirectX 11. Otherwise, PC gamers will continue to speculate on the subject.

The whole Crysis 2 DX11 patch is rapidly becoming a travesty.

Thankfully even at DX9 shaderpath the game looks fantastic and is leaps and bounds better than most FPS games out there. From the CPU side, it is much more multithreaded than previous Crysis Games ever were.

Here is an example of the CPU usage from my Phenom [email protected][email protected]!

The CPU is quite stressed and the resulting framerate was quite behind the much desired 60fps but still this was because there GPU limits. The CPU had some juice left, but even so for 60fps a faster CPU would be more than welcome.

All in all, I'd say that for 60fps at DX9 extreme, a 4Ghz K10.5 quad core or a Yorkfield would be nice, speaking about yesterdays's top dog cpus. The i7 seems to cope with lesser frequency, which was to be expected really.

That being said, I did some testing on my rigs for anyone that might be interested and wants to get a general idea of how various systems perform with this game.

And here are the video links from which these resulted from.

    YouTube - CRYSIS 2 DX9 1920x1080 VERY HIGH ATI 4850 @725MHz Phenom II X4 @3.5GHz

The 4850 was tested on V.High instead of extreme/hardcore. Video Ram usage jumps to 600-700MB in that setting and it would overwhelm it even more, since this specific model has 512MB. Still not too bad for a three year old graphics card.
