Post AMD Athlon FX 76 cancelled

AMD won't launch a new faster CPU based on the existing technology. Athlon FX74 and the Athlon 6000+ will remain the fastest parts based on Windsor core.

At one point AMD planned to introduce one more faster version of Athlon FX family clocked at 3.2 GHz but this wont happen.

Even at this speed this CPU would not have a fighting chance again Core 2 Extreme especially in games. The FX brand will have to wait for its Agena FX part the native quad core CPU but you will have to hold your breath for at least one more quarter, Q3 to be precise.

If this is true... I will called it a wise choice....

or it might be that the chip couldn't handle at this speed unless water cooled...?

Seriously, socket 939 still the best for AMD even it is out dated.

    AM2 is simply CMI

you better have somthing to back that up. AMD doesn't have a record of delays in their product lineup.

Actually I am curious as well. Why do you consider AM2 to be CMI? More difficult to overclock? Less stable?
