    H77 board, max HDD size?

    Hey guys,

I've an old H77 board (MSI H77MA-G43) with an Ivy Bridge i5, running on Win 7 SP1 x64.

Just wondering if this board can support those 8TB hard disks?

I have a 3TB onboard already, running on GPT. Just wondering if there's a max size HDD this board can take? I know some NAS or USB hdd boxes can only take 3TB HDD max. Not sure if a mobo has the same limitation.

    Anyone? Thanks in advance.

Capacity shouldn't be an issue as long as the 8tb hdds correspond to how many sata your board has, say for example you have four 2TB drives and your board only has 4sata then I don't think that wont be a problem.

Hi, the simple answer to your question is yes. Just remember to initialise the 8TB hdd for GPT as your 3TB drive. Connect it to the higher speed SATA port to take advantage of the transfer speed.

If you intend to use the 8TB in a dock/enclosure, the newer ones will support it. Recently I found my old Vantec dock do not support 4TB so I have to buy a newer dock which support up to 8TB.
