    Project : Black Box

    Hey guys!

This is the first case i'm going to be modding! The case i'm going to be modding is a Cooler Master Centurion 5.

As Cooler Master have taken every respect to design a very simple, yet sexy case! It had one con which everyone has noted.. the 80mm fan on the front panel.. As the Centurion 5 was the first of the "Centurion" Series of Cooler Master Cases, Cooler Master was aware that the 80mm fan was not providing enough airflow, as well as adding the noise factor. So every Centurion afterwards (530,531,532,533,534) all had a slightly different chassis allowing a 120mm fan to be added to the front panel.

I plan to redesign the Centurion 5, through mixing a Centurion 5 and a 534. As i love the design of the Centurion 5, yet would love to give it better airflow and countering it's 'cons'. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the birth of..

    Project : Black Box

So let's begin with some pics! =P

    ..:: Updates ::..
The Beginning : Some pics of C5 & 534, and some minor modding.
Update 1 : Completed cutting out holes for cable management.
Update 2 : Parts Arrived, Modded Nexus Fans.
Update 3 : Sprayed case with Cold Galvit n Etch Primer.

As you may all know the C5 and 534 are extremely similar, only difference are the mesh'd areas are reversed.

    Left - C5 , Right - 534

I thought they were both exactly the same until..

    you see a problem?

    Here.. take a closer look..

Uh-oh! The front I/O panel was a few millimetres higher in the 534.. so the front panel didn't fit on properly..

So I did some modding today.. drilled a few holes and tada.. fits on like it came straight out of the factory! =D

Well that's all for today! There's heaps more modding to come.. this is just the beginning! =P

    you mean something like this?
    http://www.pccasegear.com.au/prod561.htm

You can use fan adapters like that, but it wouldnt fit in a Centurion 5 due to the harddrive cage being in the way! That's why im doing such mod =P

@ XProfessionalX - Haha kinda modding half half.. Gonna have a CM5 with a CM534 Chassis.. 'Cause that's what i believe CM should do with their CM5's. They should think about revising it` ahahha =)

    @ S8NIST - Thanks! =P

@ evolution_7 - Yep all the holes gnna be used for cablemanagement~ to run cables from behind mobo. I've drilled some that are extras so it can cater for future mobo upgrades, as diff mobos have diff port placements~ so i don't have to drill more holes.. =P
