    Lightbulb Project ~OV-I~ (SM8 Dual Peds+R4BE+Tri Titans) AQC/Bitspower/CaseLabs/DEMCiflex/EKWB

Dear brothers (and sisters if any).... I'm interested to embark on the journey of water cooling my rig but not quite prepare yet due to the lack of wc knowledge.

Agenda : Project title ~OV-I~ (Op Valkyrie-1) will mark the first ever full water cooling setup that I will be building. I would like to start a "open source" idea project whereby anyone here with constructive inputs or contributions will have a piece of the action i.e. to say your chosen WC parts and route that will be used in my procurement.

Budget : Bracket between $2k to $3k range $?????, although I would appreciate the lower the better - save for the rainy day purpose - ha!

Date of completion : Before end of AY2013 After CNY 2014

Rewards : Your great achievement will be honored and acknowledged by the many pros in this forum + complimentary "kopi session" from me..... hehe

Below is the current humble specs of my rig for your perusal :

    Processor | Intel i7 4960x with Corsair H100i
    Mainboard | Asus Rampage IV-Extreme X79
Graphics Card | Zotac GTX Titan AMP! Edition 6GB x 3 (3 Way SLI)
Memory | Corsair Dominator Platinum (4GB x 8) 32GB with Light Bar Kit
    Storage | Samsung 840 Pro / WD VelociRaptor x 2
Optical Storage | LG Blu-ray SATA Drive
    Casing | Corsair 600T White with Bitfenix Spectre Pro LED 200mm x1 / Scythe GT 120mm x 3
    PSU | Corsair AX1200i

Here a rough illustration on the height restriction between the top of the casing and my table top :

Thanks for your kind support and viewing!

Recommendation worth noting so far :

    *Courtesy of K-Dash*

System loaded watt should be passing 900watt.
per 100 watt of heat require 120 rad space.
    9x 120 = 1080 rad surface = 2x 480 rad + 1x 120 rad
    good to go over 50% raddage means 2x 480 + 1x 480(extra 50%).

    1) flow rate:
    a) cross flow single pass
    b) dual pass "u" flow
    c) quad pass "w" flow

    2) volume of liquid cooled per pass:
    a) Stealth rad 27~35mm
    b) Thick rad 36~45mm
    c) Double thick rad 46~65mm
    d) Monsta rad above 80mm *Donten*

    3) Rad chamber & fins material:
    a) Brass with Alu
    b) Brass with copper
    c) Full copper

for sm8, get the psu support bar set:
    - use a bay res pump combo
    - shift the psu nearer to the mobo, almost smelling your titans
    - you should gain at least 5~6 slots on 5.25" bay
    - fabricate something to cover off the psu support bar all the way to 5.25" bay which makes the focus on your mobo area.

better to take a step a time.

    1) Re-search water block compatability.
    2) Purchase of hardware.
    3) Purchase of casing.
    4) Do measurement & calculate number of fittings needed.
    5) Purchase water cooling equipment, extension cables, lightings etc from ppc or frozencpu.

    *Courtesy of donten*

    1 x 480 monsta up top and 1 x 240 monsta at the bottom

cooling for the tri sli titan while monsta 240 should be able to handle your cpu

pumps? Generally, people go for 655 or 355

use the additional thickness of the rad as buffer for having lesser rad. top able to accommodate the monsta with p/p. i would say use the space efficiently instead of wasting it.
for the rad flow rate for ts, you dont have to care too much. cat 1a is obvious as the hole is at opposite end which are very little selection.

    *Courtesy of ordway*

Push pull vs push relatively little difference at least from my experience when using thinner rads. The thicker the rad and higher the fin density, the bigger the impact. But the good thing about GTs is that they consume around 1W per fan (of course higher during cold start) unlike other brands that typically consume 3x the power. So you can add in more fans and still have the same power consumption.

    *Courtesy of kiwi_kczt*

For barbs and compression fittings, just get 2 for every wc component

vertical PSU mount and mount two 480rads, one top one bottom

    *Courtesy of akerue*

sm8 in reverse atx, so the 240 goes for the cpu and 480 for the tri-titans

somehow the sm8 with the psu at the front seems more wise...
plonk 2 x 480 rads top and bottom one simple loop...

    *Courtesy of hell007*

Run 2 loop, 1 for CPU, 1 for GPU

Get 480 rad for GPU, 240 rad for CPU, dual loop with different color coolant seem nice

SM8 have 11x5.25 bay, the HDD is mount at the side door 2x3.5 hdd, 2xSDD. Maybe you can get the front hdd mount as i think WD VelociRaptor give out too much heat.

Thin 360rad will fix SM8 with push configuration. 5.25 bay fix below. I got a res bay which take up 2x5.25bay

    *Courtesy of terence52*

GTs are damn power efficient actually. At 0.0083A, They are just a tad below 1W (0.996 to be exact.)
Pumps wise. Please stick to the Laing DDC (355) or D5 (655) or their derivatives, never skimp on the pump.
GPU I would say a 360MM should be the bare minimum with P/P. 480 will give some headroom.
CPU wise a 240MM would do actually.

pair 1 pump to 3 blocks thereabout tops. Also depends on the block flow restrictions, Your loop have to maintain a certain flow level

    EX360+push/pull

    *Courtesy of lee-turbo*

2hdd is mount at behind, 2 more ssd mount also
use external dvd, leave one slot

That's all for now... thanks everyone!

Would second that. I don't want to blindly recommend CaseLabs just because I have one, but you definitely should look to either

    1) Change casing to a more W/C friendly one, or
    2) Setup an external housing for your radiators

A 600t will definitely not have enough watercooling capacity to sufficiently cool your monster CPU + 3 x Titans. If you mod your 600t to allow it to accept a 360mm Rad up top, and a 2 x 200mm Phobya in front, then maybe can lah. But that being said, it will definitely be a tight fit for all your components in a 600t. So my two suggestions still stand! Get a larger case or get an external radiator box!

Sounds super exciting bro, keep us updated! It's nice to have such a big budget to work with. ^^

Kiwi bro... thanks for your kind inputs - when u said external rad box, what do u mean ah? got sample to see or recommend?

I completely agree with ur point on squeezing into a small space. If u notice, I had already remove the whole 3.5" rack in the 600T making more space in the front for better airflow. The aesthetic of 600T really grow on me so much so that I haven't find anything that is close enuff - if only 600T got an older brother that is full case specs.....

Everything in my setup remains - will get a 200mm Phobya rad (for the front), 120mm EK rad (for the rear) and EK or XSPC combo reservoir/pump just to cool my GPUs while the first loop CPU cool by H100i in my favorite 600T casing.

    Screnario #2

Change casing to 800D (900D too big for me), V2120x or TJ07 plus these EK products below (with the barbs and joints)

    EK-Supremacy Clean CSQ - Nickel
    EK-FB KIT RE4 - Nickel CSQ
    EK-FC Titan SE - Nickel
EK-FC Titan SE Backplate - Black
EK-FC Bridge TRIPLE Parallel CSQ Plexi
    EK-CoolStream RAD XTX (360)
    EK-CoolStream RAD XTX (240)
    EK-D5 X-RES 140 CSQ - Acetal
    TUBE PrimoChill PrimoFlex™ Advanced LRT™ 19,1 / 12,7 mm - Crystal Clear RETAIL 3m
    EK-Ekoolant Blood RED (premix 1000mL)

Thanks for your kind support and viewing!

    imo below.

    scenario 1:

    - 200mm thk30mm rad + 120mm thk30mm rad won't have the cooling overhead for 3x titan.

    - your desired pump barely make it for 3x gpu blocks & 2 rad. if you mean X20 series

    - 600t can mod to mount a 360 rad on top & hard mod the front to fit a 480 square rad but I suggest u to go with something simpler rather than modding on your first build.

    scenario 2:

    - suggest u to skip mobo block & pump the budget to accommodate a caselab instead.

    - skip the mobo block allows u to just get away with single d5.

    - radiator will advise to go alphacool ut series instead of xtx.

    - rmb to allocate funds for fitting which will should be abt $120, fans which will be about $200, uni-sleeved extension cables for large casing about $60.
