Z87-MPower - 10 Weeks to RMA

Send in my Z87-Mpower for to Corbell (Mr Lau) for RMA on 10 June 2014. Was told that it will take 10 weeks to get replaced/repaired.

10 weeks - My goodness for a Z87 high end motherboard???? Although provide a loaner Z87M-GD45 to work over the 10 weeks, this is after all not my property.

Call today to check if the mobo was already sent back to Taiwan. Never got an affirmative answer from Mr Lau. After pressing, he then said it was already in Taiwan - but from his tone, I don't believe so.
Today, he said that it will take 8 weeks to be replaced/repaired. Ping Pong around Corbell's Policy.

Every questions and suggestions I posted to him is either he has no comment or he cannot do anything about it.

Think, this is my last buy on Corbell products.

for me, usually this type of problem is caused by the manufacturer not designing a product that lasts and for "abandoning" a board that is going to be phased out.

also, the rma time is completely at the mercy of the manufacturer. it is only a very rough and also a rather inaccurate estimation of the return time. typical rma can take from a few weeks to months. the distro has no control over the rma time.

if i were you, i'd say:

Think, this is my last buy on MSI products.

I have checked with our RMA shipping records.
What our service guy mentioned about the status was true.
Indeed it has already been sent back.



The shipment will be reaching SG next week.
Once received and tested, our guys will contact you when its ready.

Hi Andy, thanks for your reply. One question. Why do you need to retest a RMA motherboard from your Principle MSI? Duplicating job?

Then do Corbell test every motherboard befote distributing to your reseller at SLS?

This proves one point: Even distro here do not trust MSI's Quality Control.

Bad choice of mobo selection.

Basic testing to ensure that its working and boots to windows doesn't take too long.
Its their job requirement.
I don't see anything wrong with that.
Its better to spend that few mins to test than to assume.
You will never know what happened during transportation and shipping.
Eg, Transport from factory to warehouse/forwarder. Loading/unloading process. Customs process etc.

Sigh... I've also been waiting for my MSI motherboard which I sent to corbell back in June. Tomorrow will be 10 weeks. Was told it would take at most 8 weeks... hmmm

Corbell has been very polite and they've been great in dealing with a past Seasonic problem so not blaming them since it seems its a manufacturer issue. But since it seems SOP for MSI motherboard to take so long for any issues, I doubt I'll ever buy MSI anymore.

The few times I've RMAed Asus and Gigabyte usually takes 4-6 weeks. It does not take 10 weeks for an item to make a round trip unless the manufacturer is just sitting on their ass.
