Unhappy i suspect its the GFX

i have a new rig setup with the following config:

    i7 920
    DFI X58 T3EH8
    3x 500GB WD Caviars in RAID5
    3x 2GB DDR3 1333
    GeCube 4890 1GB Dual-Fan
    LG 22x DVDRW
    OCZ ModXStream 700W
    Windows Business x64 SP1

    what i did:

    1. installed a fresh installation of Windows.
    2. installed the drivers.

    problems:

    1. system POWERED OFF (without shutdown) when Windows tried to run the hardware test. so i skipped the hardware test.
    2. after I install the 4890's drivers, the system can only boot in safe mode. booted into safe mode, restored the system to restore point prior to the 4890 drivers, it works flawlessly.

    some observations:

    1. when installing windows, the first part (copying files) virtually never happens. in 3secs, the thing moves to the second part (expanding files).

    conclusions:

    1. the GFX is faulty
    2. GFX drivers are not compatible with Vista SP1
    3. PSU cannot support such power hungry components (the guy at fuwell told me 700w was enough, even though i highly doubted it)

    any advice??
